Finally!!! The Dining Room Reveal!!! …

Way back in 2012 you all may remember that I posted about the starting of a major redecoration project here at Fox Paw Lodge that would garner a new dining room, which had been non-existent for a couple of year. Well I am very happy to announce that the project has been completed. So lets begin with a little refresher. Here we have the once home office in midst of deconstruction with the closet being opened to form an alcove. All stately homes have an alcove (wink).

Entering from the living room you can see the new hardwood floor "J" and I installed. And I was pleasantly surprised how fast the floor went into place once we got started on it in earnest. The walls are painted a wonderful shade of taupe, which gets deeper and more dramatic as evening falls.

Next we look back to the left of the room after entering.

And finally, a closer look at the "alcove" with its buffet in place. Displayed on the buffet is the FPL "Tulip Vase" collection. I love these vase, even when not holding tulips they are interesting to look at.

Well that pretty much wraps that project up, now only six more rooms to go. It a toss up between the living room and the gathering room as to which will be done first. I feel it is going to be the living room since the progression of painting started in the dining room now make the paint in the living room look tired and worn, wait it is tired and worn!!!

Will I guess that’s a wrap on this post. And by the by the new satellite connection makes the up loading of pictures much faster. Now you all are going to have to suffer through looking a my photography in volume (wink). Take care. – gary

Hello Gary:
At long last, the eagerly awaited dining room project is revealed. And we are, in all sincerity, overwhelmed. It is really most attractive, appealing and inviting and we are certain that you and 'J' must be delighted with the end result. The floor especially 'works' so very well, but then we really love wooden floors and have them throughout in Budapest. And, of course, the effect of the lamplight gives the whole room such an intimate, warm appearance. Now, when are you giving your first dinner party?

By the way, what is a 'gathering' room?

Oh Gary, magnificent job. It looks so stylish and elegant and I just love you glassware collection. I can see myself sitting around that table, glass of champagne in hand, marvellous food, conversation and company. Saturday night? What time?

Jane and Lance,
I blush at your high compliment, thank you. I agree with you on the wondrous play of light on a hardwood floor. It adds such a depth that no other type of flooring can achieve. The gathering room here at FPL is the room in which the fireplace and wet bar are located with two observation windows with woodland views, the room in which we host most all social functions in. – gary

Di,
Saturday night will be wonderful, cocktails / light appetizers begin at 07:00PM with dinner to follow there after. But I fear conversation would be slightly one sided, since I would want to hear first hand of your trips, outings and adventures, bring “all” your travel pictures. – gary

Dear Gary,
Wouldn't you know it - the very week I am out of action for a while and you unveil your finished dining room.
It looks lovely. You have worked very hard and achieved a very nice result!
I particularly like the hardwood floor which AGA and I think always lends an air of sophistication to a room.
So now it is one down, six to go!
Bye for now
Kirk

Randy,
Thank you, but you know they say, “be careful what you ask for”. Don’t forget I had a hugh walk in hole in the wall before we got this room done. Do you really want to deal with that ??? lol. – gary
